Game against Sumner County

Not until the second half did the Rattler's offense hit its stride. A methodical second half where ball control was the key made the difference. Things began looking up despite our starting quarterback being out due to an injury suffered during the game with the Trojans. The major difference was using Joe Payne and Cap at fullback and letting Los and D Jackson do their things. The offensive line did a great job last night....George, Butch, Chris, Garrett, Fred and Chucky. Last but not least I have to give it up to Efrem,Kilo and Quincy.... Way to go O....

Go Hard or Go Home

This is a quote that is often said by the leader of the Rattler Defense, "Cap". He not only says it but lives it, giving his all on the field leaving nothing behind. Who will join Cap this week as he goes hard. The motto for the week is GO HARD OR GO HOME. Enough said!!!

Be careful what you ask for

This past Saturday we ran into a Storm team that was ready to play. Nothing can be said about the way we played other than we were not ready. I don't care that we were missing some key personnel, we should be able to get the job done with who ever we put on the field. We have a bad taste in our mouths from the embarrassment on Saturday but it was a lesson that teaches you that you should be careful about what you say.

To the Trojans and the Xpress, keep on yapping at the gums about what you are going to do to us. Neither of you are the Storm so you can get the notion that you will even have a chance against us out your head. The worst thing you could have done was be disrespectful to us as we were getting beat. You see the Storm was a preseason game, when we strap it up against you, my quarterback will be present, Los will be in the house, and a couple of more surprises will be unleashed against you! So lets just see what happens on 6/30 and 7/7. Until then keep on thinking the team you saw was the true Rattlers.

Going into the game with the Storm

Although I was absent this week the word is that we had a great turnout and was able to see for the first time what we will look like as a team. Now that the 9 man league is done all the returning players got to meet up with the new players and we were finally able to get down to buisness. Saturday the offense was at full strength and I had to make a decision about our left guard, he will be thrown to the wolves but what better way to get him prepared than against a great team like the Storm. If he does what I know he can do our offensive line will finally be one unit. The defense continues to be the glue that holds this team together but this year we are looking to the offense to step up and put some points on the board. We will finally see what these past four months have been for.

Thoughts on Saturdays Practice

Overall we had a great practice.
Was concerned that players showed up late but they paid for it in the end. Will be eager to see how many are late this week.
Majority of our players are still playing in the MTFL but soon that will be over. I'm getting the opportunity to look at guys that were role players last year or not even with the team at all. I'm surprised at the level of skilled position people that we have coming out this year. The receiving core is deep and we will add more after the MTFL finishes which means someone will be standing on the sidelines that is not use to being there. But competition is always good.
For the first time since Ive been in Semi-Pro football I have a returning Offensive line. This is important because in the past this has been our achilles heal. Five guys working all summer together instead of a mismatch crew will be important. Finally the offense will be in a position to help the defense by putting points on the board.
Next week I will release the first depth chart to get the attention of players who are complacent or feel that something is owed to them.
Discipline and attention to detail will be important for us this year. Good luck in practice this week.
